Affiliate Marketing Definition

Affiliate Marketing is the process of promoting other people’s products or services for a commission.

The first step, in short, is to choose a niche and a product or products to promote.

A niche is a specific part of a broader market and this is what your website is going to be about. You should choose a niche having in mind 2 crucial factors:

  1. You should find something you really like and you are passionate about. Your journey with affiliate marketing won’t be a walk in the park. It is good for you to like what you are promoting so that you can persuade people easier and also this gives you motivation not to quit when things may seem to go wrong.
  2. You should find something which can be profitable. The best 3 niches are the wealth niche, the fitness niche and the ”relationships” niche.

You can make money in any niche. Even in the fishing niche, in the hunting niche everywhere. But, some niches are more profitable than others. That’s the truth.

The second step after finding the niche and the product is to create a sales process. This would normally be either website content, Youtube Content, other social media content. But, for today we will focus on Pinterest.

Now, it is time for you to sign up and grab your affiliate product’s link so that you can promote it.

The third step is just to go on Pinterest and create lots and I mean lots of pins.

The process sounds simple and is simple but it’s not easy.

How To Do Affiliate Marketing On Pinterest Without A Website Step By Step

After choosing your niche and your product and getting your affiliate link which is very easy to do, just go to your product, for example, Bluehost click on affilliates, then sign up and get the link, you should create a sales process.

Someone would suppose that ok we have the affiliate link so we create a beautiful pin, we place the link and people will buy, right?

No.

This is absolutely the wrong way to go and that’s why most people fail in affiliate marketing. They try to use shortcuts.

Why someone that doesn’t even know who you are, buy from your link? Because you have a nice pin?

I tell you all these things because you will do it wrong and you will wonder why you don’t make money.

First of all, Pinterest is a search engine like Google, like YouTube, etc.

Only thing that changes is that Pinterest is a search engine with text and images.

The first thing that you will think of when you want to make money online with Pinterest is search engine optimization.

Search Engine Optimization is the process of optimizing our content for keywords. To learn everything you need for SEO read this article. On Pinterest, you don’t have a great amount of content but you do have 4 things you need to optimize:

  • Image Title
  • Pin Title
  • Pin Description
  • Board Description

Image Title and Pin Title: You should include your focus keyword and also a hook for people to click on your pin(and not on somebody else’s).

Let’s say I am trying to rank for a fitness training product. My title would be something like, ”Lose belly fat fast without starving”

What this title has? It doesn’t include a pretty difficult keyword to rank for which would be ”weight loss”. It includes the word fast which is a power word and also is drawing people’s attention telling them that they won’t starve.

Image Title and Pin Title need to 1) include our focus keyword-long-tail keyword(over 4 words) and 2) include the hook( 5 secrets to lose belly fat fast, the 4th will shock you-hook)

Pin Description: Every pin gives you the option to write a description up to 150 characters. Of course, you will need to use ALL 150 characters. Have in mind that people search for things and you should guess what people are typing. Makes sense?

We use every single character that Pinterest lets us to use. We include our focus keyword(lose belly fat fast) and also other keywords like weight loss, training program, fitness training, lose weight and so on.

Of course, this needs to be a nice paragraph that makes sense to the human’s eye and not only keywords.

For example, Do you want to lose belly fat fast without starving? Weight loss is not a difficult process when the training ”gurus” ask you not to eat anything. However, this training system will show you how to lose weight easily and transform your body into a body everyone dreams of without stop eating. Follow our fitness training and you will be there in no time.

I did this random example just to show you all the keywords I used in order to rank.

Board Description: Same concept. You should create boards that pins belong to, you will need to use ALL the characters that Pinterest allows you and you will form a paragraph with lots of easy and medium long-tail keywords.

Do you now understand that this is not a joke or a walk in the park?

I hope so, because we have more to do.

Don’t listen to people that tell you that making money online is easy and fast. Truth hurts and I know some of my readers will leave because they need money now but I am not that guy that will lie to you.

You won’t make much money tomorrow or this week or this month. Be serious when you are building a business.

Here I need your ultimate attention. Here is why people go wrong. They find their product, they do they keyword research, they optimize the content but in the final step they miss.

Where Should You Place Your Affiliate Link On Pinterest?

Be careful here. As of now, Pinterest lets you place your affiliate link in the description. I don’t know what they will do with it in the future, though.

Is it a good idea to drive your Pinterest followers straight to your product?

Guess what. It is actually a very bad idea!

Let me explain.

People do not buy from random people. People also don’t buy the first time they see an offer. They need time, they need trust.

Think about it. Would you buy from a random guy on Pinterest and even if you do would it be very often? The answer is clear and it is, no.

So what we will do?

You should create an opt-in page and a bridge page BEFORE you show them the product-offer.

An opt-in page is a page that helps you collect emails.

A bridge page is a page that bridges the gap between the prospect, you and the offer.

In the opt-in page, you should provide something for FREE so that people give you their email address. On the next page, the bridge page, you will make a really short video or some text congratulating them and talking about their need of your offer(which is on the next page)

Below the video, there will be a button so that they click and go to your offer.

This is the process and don’t listen to anyone else that is saying something different.

This process lets you:

  • Build an email list. This is a source of traffic you own. You don’t own Pinterest traffic but you own your email list.
  • Provides free value and time to your prospect in order to trust you and buy more easily.

Does everything make sense? This is the process.

Trust me I am doing affiliate marketing for years. I know what works and what doesn’t.

When you throw offers to indifferent people or to random people that they don’t know you they do not buy. Plain and simple.

For the first and second step, you don’t need anything more than basic knowledge for product and niche research and search engine optimization. You will find everything you need on this website for free.

However, for the last step, you need both a funnel software tool to create the opt-in and the bridge page and an email marketing tool.

I personally use Clickfunnels and Builderall for funnel creation and Getresponse as an autoresponder.

Clickfunnels is expensive, I wouldn’t suggest this for beginners because it costs 97$/month at least.

BuilderAll is very cheap it starts with 19,99$ and goes up to 69,99$. So, for a beginner, I would suggest the cheaper option. You can read a complete BuilderAll review here.

Getresponse is the best and cheapest email marketing tool it costs like 11-15$/month depending on the duration of your plan(month/year/2years). This is obvious because the best is also the cheapest.

Final Words: Affiliate Marketing On Pinterest Without A Website

All in all, this is the process of affiliate marketing on Pinterest without a website.

You need to learn the affiliate marketing basic principles before you start.

Pinterest is a great way of doing affiliate marketing(not the best) and it is relatively easy and fast.

However, in order to make money online you should follow the process I showed you.

First, you will find the product then you will create the opt-in page and the bridge page connecting the autoresponder and finally you will make the search engine optimized pins.

And that’s really it. You will start making sales and you will build an email list. This email list will be your most important asset in your marketing career.

You can make money in demand when you have built trust with your audience.

This is the power of email marketing. Every entrepreneur knows that money is in the list and that if you are not building a list, you are not building a business.

Think of this.

Let’s say you make 1000$/month( which you won’t without a list) and suddenly Pinterest becomes unpopular and Tiktok or other platforms replace it. Your 10,000 followers become useless and you suddenly have zero income and no business.

However, if you use Pinterest to build a business and a list even if Pinterest falls, you will still have your list that trusts you because of all the value you have provided to them and they will continue to buy from you.
